Gansu Province-based Chinese steelmaker Jiuquan Iron and Steel Co. (Jiuquan Steel) has stated that its water consumption per metric ton of steel produced has hit a record low this year for the successive second year.
In the January-July period of the current year, the water consumption of Jiuquan Steel per metric ton of steel produced was 4.52 m3, reflecting a decrease of 0.63 m3 or 12.06 percent year on year. In 2010, the water consumption of Jiuquan Steel per metric ton of steel produced was 4.96 m3, indicating a decrease of 0.49 m3 year on year, also constituting a record low
